“The large works are all between 6 and 8 feet in height. For watercolours they are monsters, and people often don’t believe me when I tell them the medium. I did set out 20 odd years ago to ‘re-invent’ watercolour on a large scale and remove it from the world of the leisure painter and flowers and landscapes.”
